Dorchester

Primary Target
Copper, plus Silver

Location
Click for enlarged image of all propertiesThe Dorchester Copper project consists of 172 claims covering 27.52 km2 of the Carboniferous-aged Moncton and Sackville Subbasins. These two basins are part of the significantly larger Maritimes Basin which extends across eastern New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, northern Nova Scotia and southwestern Newfoundland.

The property is located 9km northwest of Sackville, New Brunswick and surrounds the past-producing Dorchester Copper Mine.

Property Information
The sedimentary rocks of the Moncton and Sackville Subbasins, of southeast NB exhibit excellent potential for Sediment-hosted, Stratiform Copper deposits (SSC). The basins currently produce natural gas, salt and potash. The Stoney Creek Field produced sweet gas and paraffinic oil during most of the 20th century. All indicate a geologic environment that is favourable to the development of SSC mineralization.

Our Dorchester property consists of two claim groups, covering portions of both the Moncton and Sackville Subbasins of southeastern NB. The property straddles two regional faults that transect the favourable stratigrapy; thought associated with mineralization of the past-producing copper mine. The mine operated around the early 20th century and presently hosts an historic resource of 6,000,000 t of low-grade Cu, including zones of 2-10% Cu (NB DNR website). There has been limited exploration work conducted for SSC deposits in the area of the former Dorchester Copper Mine over the past three decades. The last drill holes to explore for copper mineralization here were completed in the late 1970s.

The area's regional bedrock maps of the NB Department of Natural Resources were revised in 2004 and provide an excellent geological database to assist the planned exploration program. The property will be explored under the recently announced Earn-in Agreement with Phelps Dodge Corporation of Canada, Limited.
